Time pressure is a constant in crisis and stress situations. As a result, decisions need to be made and implemented quickly if the turnaround is to have any chance of success.

Having managed a number of turnarounds, Routech applies a straightforward methodology to quickly pull together a turnaround plan, gain the support of key stakeholders and quickly implement the agreed plan.

Where required, Routech partners with its network of specialist investors, debt providers, financial and legal advisors.

Recent experience

  • UK logistics business – Developed and implemented turnaround plan, focused upon taking cost out of the business and implementing new sales and business development processes.
  • European telco – Co-ordinated the output of seven turnaround teams, each working on specific programmes to reduce costs and execute a new corporate strategy.
  • European recruitment services group – Led the group to its most successful trading year, increasing net profit by over 100%. Reduced central overheads by over 15% and restructured the group, spinning off several brands into their own operating companies, increasing financial transparency and driving better operating performance.
  • UK outsourcing group – Led the turnaround of the group and successfully prepared the business for a trade sale. Restructured the operating businesses, focusing on developing core fee generating activities and divested or closed non core, unprofitable businesses.

How to use Routech

While Routech principals have worked at all stages of the turnaround process, the earlier the engagement, the higher the chance of success.  A common first step is a review meeting to evaluate the client’s portfolio to identify businesses that may be in the first stages of crisis and where a return path to value can be identified.

Following this step, a more detailed analysis of the situation can be undertaken and a detailed turnaround plan developed and implemented. Typically, Routech takes an operational role at this stage.

Routech will calculate its fees on a time and materials basis. In many cases, Routech is happy to include a success fee element into its fees structure.
